Volunteer requirements

Thank you for volunteering at Vacation Bible Camp! Our camp cannot run without you. All onsite volunteers must be fingerprinted with the Diocese of San Jose and complete online training to recognize potential child abuse.

1. Fingerprinting–You need to be fingerprinted and cleared through the Diocese of San Jose before you can volunteer. If you have been fingerprinted through another parish in our diocese, you do not need to be fingerprinted again. Fingerprinting is valid for as long as you are active in the diocese. (if you physically move out of the diocese, and move back, you will need to be fingerprinted again.) Go to Verify Group’s website for address, phone, directions, and hours of operation. Tell them that you need to be fingerprinted for the Diocese of San Jose, St. Thomas of Canterbury Parish. You will need to make a $20 co-pay. I can reimburse you if you bring me the receipt.

2. Training- You need to complete training through ShieldtheVulnerable. Set up your user id and password. Select Catholic Dioceses, then Diocese of San Jose, then St. Thomas of Canterbury. There are several online training sessions. You may choose any of the adult training sessions. Please print your certificate of completion and bring it to the parish office by the June 9 volunteer meeting. Your training is valid for three years.
